Currypuffs - the story

Growing up with the best chef I've ever known, my mom, food has been part of my life. Learning from her, watching her and helping her has inspired me and given me the confidence to take the leap and start my business and share the art of 'campak - je' (just throwing in) making simple food yet captures flavours to the max. No measuring equipment needed for her methods of cooking just pure trust of gut feelings and years of experiences.

Handmade to perfection

Every currypuff is handmade by myself to give you the best taste and textures out there.

Carefully prepared pastry giving extra flakiness, a handcrafted weave at the outside giving a satisfying crunch with every bite.

Your tea time companion

Malaysians enjoy savoury treats (kueh) for tea time. Try the currypuff with a cup of coffee or tea - the perfect combination.

Freshly frozen

After part cooking in oil, I freeze the currypuffs to retain flavours and texture. This allows you to store them for longer and enjoy freshly cooked when you crave them! Just fry in oil or the air fryer for maximum taste!

Handmade with Love

let me tell you more....

Currypuffs or Karipap in Malay or Epok-Epok in Indonesia look like a tiny version of Spanish empanadas. However, they taste nothing like it.

Flaky & crispy pastry on the outside with gorgeous savoury curried potato filling. Currypuffs are one of many favourite 'kueh' (usually breakfast and teatime snacks) in South East Asia.

Enjoyed by different ethnic groups in multi-cultural Malaysia, everyone loves them, young and old. It has always been my family's favourite snack.

Now my kids  and my German husband  love them and I could not be happier. Making them now, always reminds me of the fun times I had with my mom and all my brothers. We even had a competition on who could do the prettiest weave on the currypuffs.

We were all so well trained in making them that my eldest brother made this family recipe of currypuffs as one of his specialties for his café in Selangor, Malaysia https://www.facebook.com/KopiWrap/.

He even called it 'Karipap Sultan' (the Royal Currypuff) after Kuala Kangsar, the town of  Royalties, where our 'kampung' (home village) is.

So, if my brother can do it why not me? After many years of hesitation, I have finally picked-up the courage and started my business 'Currypuffs', making kueh, teatime treats, the way my mother has taught me, hoping to make her proud and continuing our family legacy. Who knows one day my daughters might decide to do the same.

My mission is to make currypuffs known throughout the UK and put a smile on your face as you try this irresistible delicacy.

Food this good should be shared with everyone, don't you think?

Flavours for any taste - beef, chicken, prawn, sardine and vegan!

I cook my own fillings for the currypuffs, chicken curry, beef curry, 'sambal' sardine, prawn curry and sweet potato curry. All flavours are carefully balanced to ensure maximum taste with a bit of a kick.

Chicken Currypuff

Made with 100% chopped chicken breast.

Potato and chicken cooked in aromatic and flavourful Malaysian curry tucked in flaky and crispy pastry pockets. The weaved edges giving it an extra texture and its traditional look. Bite sized to perfection

Beef Currypuff

Made with lean mince beef, cooked into a delicious curry

Beef Currypuffs proof to be the most favourites of my range, be sure to order when available to not miss out!.

Vegan Currypuff

I make the filling with sweet potato and the crust is made using plant based butter.

A popular option to suit your dietary choices or adding some new flavours to your tea time!

Sardine Currypuff

Based on my sambal sardine. Using pilchards and incorporating it into my currybase.

Whilst not a traditional flavour I highly recommend this variety.

Prawn Currypuff

Prawn based currypuff, a delicious addition to the other options.
